Coins That Matter

Each year sovereign mints around the world release vast numbers of precious metal coin issues. The United States Mint alone releases dozens of issues in silver, gold, platinum, and palladium. The choices among are virtually endless for new issue coins, let alone historic, rare, and previous issue collector coins. Coin dealers tend to bombard you with appeals about the latest, greatest must-have coins. How does one filter out all of the “noise” to find coins that will best build a valuable collection or investment holding?

Better Choices, Better Outcomes

Global Gold is dedicated to providing answers and solutions to this fundamental problem. All coin dealers have coins they want to sell. Our passion is for selling coins that matter. Guided by some of the most experienced professionals in the industry, we are committed to a focus on coins likely to rise in value. This serves the needs of investors and collectors alike: Collectors love coins that are elusive and hard to find, a quality that goes hand-in-hand with enhanced investor value.

We sell a full variety of gold, silver, platinum and palladium coins, as well as historic and rare coins - much the same as other national coin dealers. We will happily sell you practically any coin that interests you. What we do not do is actively promote and recommend coins based solely on superficial appeal. Yes, we may feature whatever coin is new and exciting on our website, but we will never bombard you with recommendations for products that don’t meet our standards for growth potential.

Diversity, Not Hodgepodge

Diversification within a precious metals portfolio is a vital investment strategy, but it doesn’t require you to hold a disparate hodgepodge of coins. Many dealers will steer clients towards whatever coin they wish to promote at the moment, touting its value in diversifying a portfolio. We believe that diversity is best achieved when it’s pursued within a consistent framework.

Certain coin sets and series, as well as key dates, recommend themselves over and over. Patterns can be found among both modern issue and historic/rare U.S. coins. Our mission is to identify these for our clients, because we believe the results will speak for themselves.

If you are new to holding precious metal coins it’s perfectly reasonable to start out with a few ungraded modern issue coins. Our advanced strategies for a successful portfolio collection can be taken as next steps in future acquisitions, at your discretion. The choice is yours at every step. We’ve been in this business for many years and support all interests and preferences our clients may hold. We’re not here to tell you your preferences are wrong or incorrect. That said, we want you to know that whenever we make a proactive recommendation to a client on an individual level, it will be informed by our commitment to promoting the very best strategies we know.

Facts First

When you join our family by signing up for updates, we won’t send you a barrage of email promotions. Rather, we will reach out with occasional but powerful recommendations backed with facts and figures. We’re pretty sure you’ll appreciate that.

Criteria for choosing Coins That Matter:

  1. Low mintage, target coins that in general have a mintage of 100k or less, and lower than 50k when you can find them.

  2. Lowest certified population of coins certified by NGC or PCGS.

  3. Highest possible grade. This should include only MS69 or MS-70 in modern coins, but may be much lower in antique coins.

  4. Seek the top pedigrees and signatures on the certification label. Top name signatures can add real value, that can be documented in NGC and PCGS price guides. Some traditional collectors have been slow to embrace signature labels, but buying a coin with only three out of these four criteria, is like buying a car with three good tires instead of four. You can get better performance by having all four and the pedigree only cost a few more dollars. In fact, to use another car analogy, most of our clients drive some sort of luxury vehicle, or the top of the line vehicle in whatever they do choose to drive. That means they paid a little more for the best options, and hopefully a little better resale. Adding a pedigree and signature is practicing the same approach to your coin, or metals investments. When you consider that some signature coins list for 100% to 1000% more than the plain 70 version of the same coin on PCGS price guide, the argument for getting the inexpensive pedigreed coins because very powerful.
